Hardspark.tk have visited the Illinois- State - Museum . Crystals Colors Pure Fluorite, composed only of fluorite and calcuim. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The presence of the other minerals adds color to the fluorite. White and purple are common, but it can also be blue, green, yellow, pink, or brown. Its crystal form is usually cubic, and it commonly forms masses of interlocking crystals. It is often associated with other minerals in crystal-lined pockets or cavities, called vugs. Crytals of Illinois fluorite are highkly prized be museums and minerals collectors worldwide. Giant Tortoise Turtle A single plate from the plastron of an extanict giant tortoise discovered in 1980 at the Hopwood Farm site in Montgomery County, was the first record of the Giant Tortoise in Illinois. Paleontologists recovered additional bones in later years.
